Acts 1:8
"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses."
"The righteous are as bold as a lion" (Proverbs 28:1). But Peter wasn't always bold during the early years of his "good fighting" career. After the ChristJitsu grandmaster Jesus was taken away to be beaten and then ultimately hung on a cross for the sins of the world, Peter, one of his prized students, pretended over and over to have no relationship with him. A much weaker fighter even tapped him out three times during the early rounds.
Just a few months later, however, this same Peter stood boldly in the center of the Cage of Life and went toe to toe with the very enemies who crucified Jesus. The same Peter? No, this was a new Anointed Fighter, filled not with fear but "filled with the Holy Spirit" (Acts 4:8). and power!
Peter and John had no former championship titles under their belt but they fought with such boldness that the fighters they faced "were astonished, and they took note that these men had been with Jesus" (4:13). What those fighters didn't know was that the grandmaster was living in these men by the Holy Spirit and the very same power that rose Jesus from the dead was now working in them!
Are you scared to be known as a ChristJitsu trained Anointed Fighter? Do you pretend not to know the grandmaster around friends, family, sparring partners, or people who might make things rough for you? Do even much smaller fighters tap you out to silence? If so, don't just try to be a bit braver; pray for a greater filling of the Spirit's power.
When your "fighting the good fight" in the Spirit, ( which by the way, is the only way to fight without getting knocked out cold ), you cannot help speaking about Jesus (4:20). You will be his anointed and speak his words, even in scary rounds when your laying on your back getting pounded in the face by the elbows of persecution. "Do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit" (Mark 13:11).
Remember, it is called a fight for a reason. However, we fight from Christ' victory not for victory. Keep Fighting.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank you for victory and boldness when fighting the good fight in your name. May your perfect will be done in my life. Amen
