I went to all the pre-UFC 100 festivities with the motley crew to the left. Our plan was to attend everything leading up to the flight, fly home late Friday night, and watch the fight with the guys in the church on Saturday night. I wanted to list some of my memories from my UFC 100 experience. They are in no particular order and aren't all things I hope to remember in the future but are memories none the less.
Got interviewed by a newspaper reporter from the Las Vegas Review which led to 3 articles being written. My favorite got picked up by yahoo sports. They were intrigued by a pastor who watched the UFC and actually knew something about it. Yahoo Sports Article
Of the 3 main fights, I met Bisbing, Mir, and Alves beforehand. They all lost. At UFC 98 I met Rashad beforehand and he lost. I am starting to wonder if I am bad luck for these guys.
Got horrible news on Wednesday night that one of my friends and a member of my church had passed away while fishing in Alaska. I will miss you, Mike Long.
The Fan Expo was cool but was too crowded. Drew and I waited in line for 2 hours to meet Chuck Liddell and the line never moved. We finally gave up and left annoyed. I am sure I will run into Liddell at a fight in the future.
The weigh-ins were awesome. Lesnar is HUGE!
I went to Vegas with the oddest assortment of guys. They made the trip super memorable. Each brought their own uniqueness. Corey refused to get out of bed. Drew refused to stop gambling. Mike refused to stop riding the trams.
I got to meet all the contestants for the next season of the Ultimate Fighter including Kimbo Slice. They all autographed jerseys for my boys. It is going to be a fun season to watch.
I met Kenny Florian and Randy Couture after they finished filming an episode of MMA Live. I also connected with Franklin McNeil.
The highlight of the weekend was watching the fights with the men of Canyon Creek Church. I love our church sponsored UFC Fight Nights!
It was a hard week due to the loss of a friend but a fun time hanging out with fans and fighters. I love the UFC.
